About ACGEL
African Centre for Global Entrepreneurial Leadership (ACGEL) is a registered non-governmental entity whose operation is Africa centered. We are operational, meaning we plan and carry out boots on the ground projects to accomplish our objectives. This requires a great deal of careful planning, communication and local involvement for each project.
WHY THE CAUSE?
From the Nigerian Bureau of Statistics(NBS) which states that as at 2010, Nigeria’s unemployment rate was 5.9 percent which rose steadily to 8.19 percent in 2015. By 2017 3rd quarter, the unemployment rate had more than doubled, peaking at 18.80 percent. Moreover, as at 2018 3rd quarter unemployment rate in Nigeria has increased to 23.13 percent.
In real terms, 20.9 million Nigerians are currently unemployed while 18.2 million are underemployed. This brings their total of 39.1 million people out of active labor force of 115.5 million. Presently the unemployment rate amongst the massive growing population is fueling kidnapping, banditry, insurgency and armed robbery.
In other African counties with AN unemployment rate of 46.1 percent in Congo,34.0 percent in Namibia and 27.6 percent in South Africa, etc. This has proven to be a major problem and the time to act is now.
